From cozy romances to page-turning thrillers, there's something for everyone here.
As much as we love our summer beach reads, we're ready to turn the page, put on a sweater, and get cozy with some fall books. Good news: The batch of new reads for 2022 is incredible, and you're sure to find something to curl up on the couch with. Some of our favorite authors, like Stephen King, John Grisham, Celeste Ng, and Colleen Hoover are back with new reads. Whether you like a murder mystery or a book that will remind you of a Hallmark movie, there's something for you on this list (even a new Joanna Gaines memoir)! If you're all about the spooky season, look no further than our list of Halloween books.
As someone who reads more than 100 books a year, there's nothing I love more than discovering a new book and then telling my friends about it. Let these recommendations get you started on your fall reading adventures.
Readers of Malibu Rising will remember Carrie's character (although if you haven't read Malibu Rising, this book certainly stands alone). She is an unapologetically cut-throat tennis star (the best in the world, after all) who returns to the sport after a younger player challenges her record. Carrie teams up with her father and coach and creates a surprising connection to another aging tennis player, Bowe Huntley, in her quest to reclaim her title.
After enjoying 2019's Queenie, I was excited to read this new novel by Candice Carty-Williams. People Person tells the story of five siblings without much in common except their absentee father, but the group forms an unexpected bond after Dimple Pennington finds herself in an unfortunate situation and in need of help. The thought-provoking and funny novel will have you reflecting on what it means to be a family.
Celeste Ng's latest is a compelling and brutal telling of a too-real dystopia. The country has been through a difficult and chaotic time of economic crisis and social unrest, which resolves in a government-mandated ordinance called PACT designed to protect American culture. The government prevents social unrest by, among other things, limiting exposure to certain books, and children are separated from parents deemed unfit. The novel deals with topics of anti-Asian violence and families being separated. It's a thought-provoking book that will stay with you long after the last page. (October 4)
After the popularity of The Spanish Love Deception, Elena Armas is back with The American Roommate Experiment. Rosie Graham has major writer's block, and she and her best friend's cousin, Lucas, decide to enter a fake relationship to help her find inspiration. Oh, and due to a series of unfortunate events, Rosie and Lucas have to share a tiny studio apartment, which leads to some very steamy encounters.
A new legal thriller from John Grisham? Yes, please. Colleen Hoover mania has taken over Tik Tok, with It Ends with Us being one of her most popular books to date (it has spent more than 64 weeks on The New York Times Best-Sellers list). And we can't forget about the creepy old man in the creepy old house, the pot of gold, and the never-ending cast of unforgettable characters that could only come from King's mind.
Built to Last is the perfect romance for fans of home renovation shows. In Erin Hahn's latest, two former child stars reunite to film the pilot for a HGTV-type reality show. Shelby Springfield left Hollywood and embraced the small-town life in Michigan, where she restores furniture and renovates houses when her dad.
