Police say one man is dead and another seriously injured following a workplace accident in Brantford, Ont., on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Labour says the two were reportedly hurt while working on a platform at Patriot Forge on Henry Street.

The company's website says it currently operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with more than 250 employees at its two plants.

Patriot Forge Co., which was founded in 2001, says it's the "largest custom open-die forging company in Canada."

Open-die forging refers to a process used to hammer, press or stamp heated metal parts into a desired shape.

The ministry says two of its inspectors have been assigned and were headed to the scene Tuesday afternoon.

Officers are currently on scene in the area of Henry Street near Wayne Gretzky Parkway for reports of a workplace accident.
